A native of Medina County, Vance has lived near Hondo since graduating from Tarleton State University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Services and Development.

He began his career in the livestock and farm equipment publishing industry, working as an advertising representative for publications including Gulf Coast Cattleman and Texas Farmer-Stockman. That early experience gave him a strong foundation in the agricultural world and helped build lasting connections across the ranching and farming industries.

Licensed as an auctioneer since 1994, Vance has extensive experience in livestock, farm and ranch equipment and automotive auctions. As the exclusive auctioneer for the Texas Deer Association for more than two decades, he has sold more whitetail deer at auction in Texas than any other auctioneer.

In addition to his professional background, Vance and his family operate a cow-calf ranching operation focused on producing show steers and heifers. His firsthand involvement in ranching, farming and wildlife gives him a practical understanding of the land and the industries tied to it.
